Every Rose has it’s Thorn..

Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song.. you see where I’m going with this musical headline??!! ;)

First and Foremost, I have to let you know, that this is my..100thbirthdayballoon Post!!! So thanks for sticking around with me blogworld!! :)

Alrighty Peeps, we left off, with me just finishing up my visit with The Johnston’s! I left Waco around 12:15ish Sunday afternoon, and arrived in Dallas around 1:45ish.. Matt was heading in from Longview, so we met up just about the same time. I had driven his car to Waco, to save on gas money and such, and so he ended up having to drive my car in from Longview. I tried to think of a good meeting place, and we knew we wanted to stay in Dallas Sunday night, so I just told him to exit 35/Northwest Hwy, because I knew we’d be taking Loop 12 to the game. I saw a Day’s Inn, and stopped to see how much. The first thing the guy did, was look down at my jersey, then gave me a price..umm, no thanks price gouger dude!! So, I went to the next place, which was a Holiday Inn Express..those are suppose to be pretty ok, right?? Right..or so I thought!! I checked in, got my room key, and by the time I went upstairs, Matt showed up. We caught up on a few of the noon games scores, and then headed out for the game!!

IMG_3133 ..passing by the “old” Cowboys Stadium..

About 2 exits from our exit down 30, we were stopped by police escorted buses..I knew it had to be “somebody”, we just weren’t sure who; but once we got closer, I saw some big ole’ black boys sitting in the seats, so we’re thinking it was THE actual Giants bus.. because you know if it had been the Cowboys bus, I would’ve stopped some traffic!! ;)

Our first view:IMG_3138 Isn’t she a beauty?!! :)

I’d say we arrived at the Stadium around 3:45ish.. There were several parking lots already full of tons and tons of tailgaters, we took a once over and decided where we wanted to park. All the lots (and even parking lots of like grocery stores, and pizzahuts) had signs in them that let you know how much it was for parking..the closer to the stadium, naturally the more expensive. We decided to go with the $60 parking, which put us about 3 or 4 blocks from the Stadium. Traffic was light, as it was mainly just people walking up to the stadium..

IMG_3142 IMG_3144

We wanted to get there early, seeing as how the tickets Holly’s grandmother had won, were the “Party Passes”, which are standing room only! Matt and I knew this going in, but we were NOT going to miss a chance to go to the first game EVER at the NEW Cowboy’s Stadium for FREE! I stayed very optimistic throughout the afternoon..but that positive attitude quickly diminished when we arrived at the stadium! ;) The party passes had gates A-B-C-D & E-F-G-H..so when we just walked right on up to the front, with little to no problems, I was thrilled..NOPE-wrong gate, your entrance is on the OPPOSITE side of the stadium the ticket lady told me..of course they were! So after about FIVE miles of walking, we finally arrived at our gate!

IMG_3146 Seriously, do you see how RED my face is??!! ha! I was too happy to care though!! :)

IMG_3147

Time to go In!! :)

The Scoreboard..ooooo, the Scoreboard!! There is 0 % chance, you can’t see in this stadium..    well, that is..if you actually have a seat!! ;)

IMG_3158        Is there anything more beautiful?? ;)

By this time it was probably around 4:45, and I was trying to catch my breath from all the walking and seeing and doing.. We decided to stay around the 2nd “landing area”..where about 30 people or so had already begun to line up for the night..we were probably say 6 or 7 rows of people back, Matt had scored a high-top table to kinda lean on, and I searched for somewhere to sit down and take a breather for a couple of minutes!! I canNOT believe I’m about to post this pic, but it’s too funny not to..and it’s a great memory to look back on!! ha! or so I’m telling myself..

IMG_3164      WOW

Soon after, they made the announcement that they were about to open the roof and sides, so I made my way back over to Mattie for the monumental occasion!! ;)

Here’s the aerial shots from the big screen..pretty cool..

I was too into the game to take any more pictures the first half, so we’ll move right along to halftime!! :)

A nighttime aerial shot..

IMG_3242

At half, they unveiled the “Ring of Honor” and had all the old Hall of Fame Players come back..       it was pretty cool..

This was the Giants Fan that stood next to us..boy, did he pick the wrong people to stand next to!! ;) nah..we ended up being friends afterwards!! :)

IMG_3265

About midway through the 3rd Quarter, Matt and I decided to make our way downstairs, and see if we could find some place to sit down at..Remember people, 5 miles walking, and now 7 hours on my feet!! I actually wanted to stay where I was, it was the husband who wanted to sit!! :)

IMG_3270

IMG_3278

Well..we all know what happened in the Fourth Quarter..things just went from bad to worse! I can’t even describe to you how LOUD the fans are in this Stadium.. you think it’s loud on TV, but when this many people..IMG_3269get together, it’s INSANE!! I mean, every “uhhh, and oooo, and ahhh” is just magnified..Romo knew EXACTLY how his fans were feeling about his playing, let’s just put it that way!! ;)

The experience was something, Matt and I will never forget. It was awesome, incredible, huge, magnificent..Jerry definitely didn’t spare anything in making “Jerry’s World!” I can’t thank Holly and her grandparent’s enough, for giving us the opportunity to go and witness this magical event..I’ve gotten over the heartbreak of the game, and am focusing ahead to next week.. I swear, leaving the Stadium was the somberest thing I’ve ever seen, All 105,000 of us were in mourning!  Traffic was SUCH a breeze getting out as well..we couldn’t have dreamed of anything better.. So, after a quick bite at IHOP, Matt and I drifted fast asleep at our hotel.

Monday, oooo Monday! Matt and I woke up around 10, and decided to get an early start and pack up. So we headed downstairs, only to find this..

IMG_3289

Yep, that would be MY Tahoe!!!!

IMG_3288

IMG_3287

Seriously??!!! GET A JOB!! I mean, I so would have given the creeps the $10 they probably got, after pawning my 4 year old CD changer!! UGH! How frustrating!! Needless to say, Matt and I spent the remaining morning on the phone with the insurance people, the police {who by the way didn’t come out, and told me that someone would return my call between then & 2:30!!!!!!}, big poppa, the hotel people, and my aunt’s boyfriend Don Don, who just happens to be a glass guy, thank the lord, who came right over and fixed my window!! I canNOT thank you enough Aunt Lala & Don Don, SUCH a lifesaver!!! After our oh so pleasant morning, Matt and I were ready to GO. HOME. so after a quick bite at Cheesecake Factory {Remember my favorite place} we were on the road East!

Before I conclude this post, Yesterday afternoon Cody called and asked if I could keep Addi while him and Brennan went to soccer practice.. Of course I said yes, because oh how I’ve missed my babies.. Mel was in New Orleans for work, and Cody began to tell me a little about “the incident” that had happened the day before.. {more to come} :)

Addi hanging out on CaCa’s porch..

IMG_3293 IMG_3294

There is so nothing wrong with her knee, she just put that Band-Aid on there, 5 seconds before!

..and don’t let this sweet smile fool you..it quickly turned into this!! :)

        IMG_3297 IMG_3299

Ok, back to Brennan..yesterday when Mel went to pick up Brennan from PawPaw Sammy’s house after school..she discovered something frightening! When Mel walked in, Brennan and Sunny were eating cereal at the bar, when all of the sudden Mel noticed a little something different about her son..his hair!! Brennan had gone into PawPaw’s bathroom and decided to play “Barber Shop”..after Mel’s first “OH MY GOSH BRENNAN, WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR HAIR” Brennan replied, “I tripped on something at school, and it took my hair off” …RIGHT.. So after a second question, he replied with this, “I was going to do a little trim, and then… I just lost my mind!!!!” ahahahha, WHAT do you say to THAT??!!! Mel said it was too funny, not to laugh at! So after some tears, and fears of what DaDa would say.. Cody tried to even out his son’s hair. While Cody was telling me the story, he said.. Candy, I mean I tried my “2” and it was still too short!! :) So Brennan had to go to school that next morning with some weed-eatin chopped up hair, until Cody could take him to the barber shop before soccer practice..so without further ado’… ;)

IMG_3305

I told him, he looked like a Serial Killer, and made him retake the picture!! ;)

IMG_3306

Kids!! :) I asked Addi what she would have done if Bubba would have tried to shave her hair, and she said, “I would’ve Ran!”.. Good Girl!! :)

Until Next Time!!

Oh, this post made me laugh out loud from beginning to end! I can't even remember all the funny stuff...the red face, the walking, the cheap shot at Romo, the use of the word somberest (not a word!), the serial killer look, and I could go on! Anyhow, despite the outcome, glad y'all had such a wonderful time!!
