This past weekend, as you all know, was Mother’s Day. I got to do some neat things, to celebrate not just my mom, but many others. Friday though, I decided to make it another movie marathon night, left Matt at home..and headed out to see some chick flicks. First up, was..
followed by..
both were good..predictable, but good. Ghosts being a tad bit better, I mean come on, how can you go wrong with Matthew??!! :)
Saturday morning, bright and early, I awoke for Mel to pick me up so that we could drive to Tyler to attend the Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure Walk! For those of you that are not aware, we lost Mel’s mom, Linda Morris, (MaMaw) two years ago, this Friday, May 15t! I can hardly comprehend that it’s been two years already..sometimes it feels like yesterday, but then other times it feels like an eternity since she’s been gone. MaMaw was SUCH a wonderful, loving, self-less, Christian lady that touched everyone’s life she knew. I think of her often when the kids discover something new, play something new, heck..with every inch they grow. MaMaw was diagnosed with breast cancer in early November, and within six months she was gone. IBC (Inflammatory Breast Cancer) was her actual type of breast cancer. It is the fastest spreading breast cancer, and often the most undetectable. I sent a video a few weeks back to a few of my girlfriends, but I’ll post the link on here as well. It is a MUST SEE for any woman out there!!
The walk was wonderful, and such an inspiration. There was a huge turnout of survivors, fighters, family members, family members that had lost a love one, women, men, and children alike. Here are a few pictures from the event.
We can’t wait to make this an annual event!! What a GREAT way to honor Mel’s mom on Mother’s Day!! After the walk, Mel and I headed back to Longview, and Matt and I headed back to Tyler to celebrate Christian’s 14th birthday at Matt’s parent’s house on the lake. Christian brought a few friends over, and we enjoyed the day and evening playing on the lake, grillin hot dogs, and eating cake! I didn’t take one single picture from the afternoon, but was able to snag some of Mik’s..so here goes..
On Sunday, My mom came over around 11, and we headed to her favorite place, Red Lobster, for a Mother’s Day Lunch with just her and Matt and I. After a yummy meal, we all decided to hit up the last day of the Parade of Homes, before Matt and I headed back to his parents. The parade was oh so wonderful..what I wouldn’t give to be rich!! Around 5ish, Matt and I left for Tyler to celebrate Mother’s Day with Matt’s parents, and Mikki and Clay. PawPaw cooked his yummy chicken spaghetti, and we enjoyed the rest of the evening, hanging out.
I hope all you mother’s out there had just the most amazing Mother’s Day, and spent the day honoring YOU!! Now on to another week ahead!
Until Next Time!!
